It would be wonderful if we were taught to do the things and given the basic knowledge needed to complete the assignments in the time frame without relying on TAs who don't have time for everyone... Too bad this information is being treated as common knowledge. Might as well be teaching myself to code.

The weight of the assignments feel unproportional to the time that has to be spent doing them. Also I feel as though I was unprepared for the course because a lot of things that were doing we are doing were very briefly mentioned or just not mentioned at all in cis*1500, yet it was still expected that we know the material.

It is unreasonable to expect first year students with CIS*1500 as their primary programming experience to succeed in CIS*2500 given the time restrictions and other course work to be completed. Without the necessary prerequisite skills, it's extremely difficult to complete the assignments.

Prof doesn't teach what we need to know to do the assignments... assignments are way too hard and we're not given enough time! He also comes to class unprepared.

I dropped the course because it was so unfair. The prof needs to teach the material before assessing students on it.

I don't think the course difficulty is necessarily the issue, but rather it's the organization. The material isn't timed in an appropriate fashion, for example, command line arguments were in the lab the week after the assignment was due.

Friend showed me the assignment, it's requirements and the assignment page. It's way outside the scope of what a first year student should be learning. I feel there must be more building blocks before drilling students with these sort of complicated assignments.

Hello, its me. I was trying to parse this text file and I wanted to kms. I kept getting a seg-MEN-tation fault. I was spending countless hours to debug this and my problem was that I spelled the text file wrong. I named it txt.txt and I tried running it with text.txt lol wtf. Can someone help me with my makefile though i tried putting:
all: -gcc helloWorld.c parseThisFileWithTwoThousandLines.c TheyDidntTeachMeEnoughIn1500.c -Wall -std=HIV

I agree. CIS*1500did not prepare us at all for this CIS*2500
