I think she deserves one just because she killed herself doesn't mean anything you don't know what was going on at home

Hi Zack, we certainly don't understand the complexities of funding/decision-making associated with obtaining a school plaque for our daughter, but we would love to have Ciara honored, remembered, and commemorated by something (a plaque, a tree, a mural etc.) at the school that reflects the joy and laughter she brought to the lives she touched. That said, there are no words that possibly begin to reflect the excruciatingly painful loss we feel but in time, we can only hope it can soften somewhat with the memories of our wonderful 15-year-old daughter. But if, like our tragic story (http://tinyurl.com/CiaraWhitney) and the book plaques in the local library in books she liked, it causes even one person to use a semi-colon instead of a period, her tribute will matter as much as her very sweet and oh-too-short life did. As Project Semicolon put it, "A semicolon represents a sentence the author could have ended, but chose not to. That author is you and the sentence is your life."

Please honor our baby girl. She fought bravely and she shined beautifully until the darkness of depression took her light from all of us. Remember her please for the light, love, and laughter she gave to the world.

She should get something but you people need to understand that the plaque wall is funded by an outside source and they decide what to do with it, not Daniel Boone. Also her family does not want her on the wall so at least have some respect for them. I understand what you all are saying but this isn't the way. Talk with administration about a tree or something like that.

Daniel Boone disgusts me. A child has died, having lost a battle with depression, and the school chooses to SHAME her and decide that she is not worthy of being remembered. How vile, how cruel. I wish her family well, and I wish the school would wake up and realize that they are being irreparably ableist.

This is about honor- each child deserves honor- not given shame. what you as a school would do to not put a plaque up for her would add more shame to a problem that needs love and understanding to prevent it.

Ciara deserves a plaque just like every other student who passed away. Her death is no different then a DUI death.

She deserves it. I've heard great things about her how ever I never met her but just to show her life and legacy she left behind she was a brave girl.

Putting up a plaque with Ciara's name will help others who may be contemplating suicide.
