No Roadway for Canmore's Pathway!

As longtime homeowners in Canmore where our family has lived since before the 2088 Olympics, we strongly oppose Paving and/or Lighting of the path along the dyke and particularly paving or lighting of the small dirt wildlife path through the forest from Veterans Park to the dyke, when there is already the established and highly utilized footpath from the end of Riverview Place only about 50 meters away. Please protect our beloved wildlife against light pollution and intrusion while at the same time preserving quality of life for the residents.

This is a terrible idea.

Please pay attention to this petition. We are the Canmore taxpayers and voters. The paving will not benefit us but daytrippers who bring little to the Canmore economy. They ride their bikes, take photos, and head home. There are plenty of other paved paths for cyclists.

There are many bike routes; making this a hardtop route will be hazardous to walkers.

Does the Town need to build this pathway in order to justify a 10% to 12% hike in property taxes?

This is a travesty! We should all strive to protect our natural resources!

The skinny bridge on the Path is now confirmed to be built soon at 18ft 5.5 m wide. The mayor and council has slipped that project and huge waste of Tax payers right under the radar by using the towns Facebook page. Read to the end. They slip the path width to be 18 ft when they deem it needed. ITS COMING! That bridge will be the widest pedestrian/cyclists bridge in town and will remove many healthy and mature trees. FOR WHAT? To waste our tax dollars for an extravagant project that simply isn’t needed or wanted. The out come will be a tax hike for all residents. 10ft has been suitable for waterfront multi use trails in all Canadas major cities with much higher populations and general Traffic. Stop the madness, mayors, councils and Andy Esarte Christmas Wish List is excessive!

Most of these "so called improvements" need to be stopped. We don't need them, we don't want them. Canmore's growth is already totally out of control. Totally!!! The last thing we need is more high speed bikes on these lovely more-or-less pristine trails. Dark skies are much appreciated and the way of the future.

Please - the thought of pavement and lights is antithetical to our town!

While I approve of improving pathways in the town this particular project seems like something best completed in Calgary

I don’t like walking, riding on paved paths. They are slippery in winter and an eye sore. The sun doesn’t melt the ice in winter as the mtns block the sun in this location. The maintenance and initial cost is not Necessary.

Waste of money paving already great trail; don’t want the light pollution either !

We are in difficult times why make it more difficult

Town has now erected two sign on the path in 5 inches of snow attached to the dead tree that generated 1700 signatures to please stop this excessive paving and 18 ft planned bridges to replace the Skinny Bridge which will bigger than the towns bridge over the River. What we really need is more garbage cans, a second public toilet near the pump houses. And a few speed limit 20kl. Max signs Have seen the bylaw 5 times in 10 days harassing me and residents backing onto the path . Never saw them 10 times in 20 years.

An excessive expense and a poorly planned project! No real environmental or cost effective considerations. Save the money and reduce the proposed tax increase this year !!!

We have so many different issues in town we need $$$ to spend…build the expensive pathway is not one of them.

Regular visitor to Canmore. appreciate the Bow River trails in their current state. No need to pave the trail.
