Chineham Village Hall Bus Stop

The lay by is needed to avoid dangerous overtaking incidents at this busy bus stop

I have seen some extremely dangerous overtaking and a near crash. I expect there will be a bad accident around here. Please reinstate the lay-by.

The idea of removing the bus lay-by in the first place was ridiculous. It needs to be re-instated. Another potential accident blackspot is the first bus stop along Mattock Way - but I guess that is for another petition :)

I have witnessed cars overtaking the bus. I never could see why the bus stop was removed as it has made it so much more dangerous.

I pass this point several times most days and there is always someone who thinks it is clever to overtake the stationary bus on the opposite side of the 'keep left' bollards. It is only a matter of time before there is a very nasty accident.

I go this way to work at 8 every day and when I stop to wait for the bus several times a month a car pulls out on the wrong side of the road and overtakes! Accident waiting to happen!

I have seen many drivers overtake a stationary bus at this point. For safety, reinstate the lay-by, positioning it 50 mtrs NORTH of the existing stop, away from the Village Hall Crossing.

I have witnessed people overtaking on the wrong side of the traffic island at least three times. Whilst in my car or on the bus. It was there when we moved here over 22 years ago and the bus service flowed OK then.

The removal of the bus lay-by was a stupid and dangerous decision, and must have been taken by someone who has never seen the site.

No bus pull in causes traffic jams, safety issues with people trying to pass and people running across the road to catch the bus unsighted to drivers.

This was the most ridiculous bus stop ever. There is room for a layby so why make traffic wait behind the bus ????? Reason would demand a layby so why on earth was it allowed to be made the way it is???? MADNESS !!!!!!

Unless we stop the traffic run throguh from business park through Chineham we will need this layby as they race through and will cause an accident due to their inpatience

Let's be safe

I use this bus stop a lot with my two young children and feel the layby for the bus would make getting on and off and crossing the road safer for everyone on foot that crosses the road for the park and the village hall too.

I agree that this should be sorted due to a safety reasons!
