Imagine, just imagine, what Henry Beetle Hough would write in the Gazette about such a travesty against the beauty of MV...

No bridge please. Save Squibnocket.

As a longtime Chilmark resident, a landscape photographer, and a lover of nature and especially the Vineyard, I find this reprehensible.

MV is a rare gem that has been overbuilt with mega houses in the last 20 years...so please don't add to the pollution. It is immoral to ruin such a beautiful place so that a few people can have easier access to their houses. Why live in a place like this if your'e just going to cover it in cement? Why live in a place where you have pissed off a large part of the community with your cynical and soulless and constant building? Don't do it.

Inch by inch - that's how it all goes south. A line must be drawn. No bridge over Squibnocket Beach. Amen.

Squibnocket Beach is jewel that should never be harmed . A bridge would change the whole structure of the beach . Building Permits and zoning are for the protection of everyone and can not be ignored .

This bridge as approved is too large too high and too overwhelming for the surrounding environment in my opinion.

A bridge....on every level this does not make any sense.

Sad when folks move to a place because of it's natural beauty and simplicity, then recreate the very place they left to escape from. Please no bridge.

So you can just "buy" a building permit when you live in Squibby? Nice message to send your kids. But thats what Chilmark's all about huh?

It is hard to believe that Chilmark would have acquiesced in this plan, designed for the convenience of few landowners at the expense of the rest of us. Those who might lose access to their property deserve the same consideration as other victims of flooding. There must be another acceptable solution, such as a "dune road," and it may be found only through litigation against the town's unfortunate "decision".
