Chief Architect has indicated that the new Apple M1 chips are not currently supported and will not be supported in future product releases. There has been quite a bit of concern and active discussion in the Chief Talk forum about this decision and we are encouraging Chief Architect to revisit their decision regarding compatibility with Apple silicon going forward.

Current users are reporting success running Chief Architect X12 and Home Designer Pro 2021 on M1 hardware with the exception of Physically Based Rendering. While we understand that Real-time Ray Tracing will not be supported in the upcoming X13 release for Macs (Intel nor M1), our hope is that Physically Based Rendering can be made to work on M1 hardware with minimal development investment by the talented Chief Architect team.

Please indicate your support for ongoing development of Chief Architect software running on Apple hardware now and in the future.

Thank you!

The massive surge in support proves that Chief Architect cannot keep ignoring its own user base. They think they can force us into obsolescence but this momentum shows they are dead wrong.

Please consider supporting Apple M1 processor for HD Pro and CA tools. Rosetta is good, but native would be so much better. Long time user trying to stay current.

Please support the new M1 chips. I have been using Macs for 12+ years and can't switch to a PC just for one piece of software.

Really hope this compatibility will be offered! It currently runs, maybe just differentiate between “doesn’t work” and “not officially supported but functions with known bugs”?

My reason for learning and purchasing chief architect is because it runs on Apple OS. That also means Chief staying up to date with the new M1 technology.
