Chickens in the city of Desloge MO
I would like to take this time to gather some supporters for the idea of allowing chickents to be raised within the city limits of Desloge. Park Hills has recently passed a law that allows individuals to house up to 6 hens within city limits. After reading Chapter 210 of the city ordinances I am under the impression that it is primarilly at the discretion of the board of alderman and as long as they are not a nuisance, such as noise and oders, and follow the same restrictions as other pets. Hens will create noise when laying eggs however at a much lower decibal than that of a dogs bark and can be minimized by creating a fully enclosed area for them to lay their eggs in. Odors can be limited by limiting the amount of chickens allowed, such as Park Hills, and by using certain materials when building the coops and daily cleaning. Dogs can create up to 12 oz of waste per day whereas Chickens only produce 1.5 oz per day. Please consider these few facts and give us your support. Thank you for your time!
