I have had chickens in my Perrysburg backyard for years. My neighbors love "the girls" and give them their veggie scraps. They have eaten thousand of Japanese beetles over the years and their composted manure give me a lush productive garden. I give eggs away weekly to friends, neighbors and relatives. They do cluck and have a daily "singing routine" after someone lays an egg. I find this not as bothersome as the constantly barking neighborhood dogs and feral cats. My grandkids when visiting run out back to feed the chickens and would be heartbroken if we had to get rid of one of their pets, as they all have names and quite different personalities. Please allow us to continue what we have been doing for years, we love our chickens as people love their dogs.

My inlaws live in the Burg and have chickens. My kids love playing in their backyard, and feed the chickens whenever they get the chance. Save the poultry!

Never being near chickens before, I was surprised to see my new neighbors had some in their back yard. They are the cutest things ( the chickens, that is. Lol) They have never once been a nuicense and you can tell they are very loved, just like any family pet and very clean. There is no reason they shouldnt be treated just like family dogs or cats!

Backyard chickens will cut down on factory farm chickens, thus producing eggs with no chicken cruelty. And it will cut down on factory waste getting into the lake, which causes algal blooms.

I don't live in a zoned area, so keeping chickens on our property was never an issue. Even so, I fought the idea. Because chickens are dirty, right? They're stupid and mean and, well, foul (pun intended). Turned out I was so very, very wrong. They're only all of the above because, like humans, they're a product of their environment. The City of Perrysburg has the opportunity to show just exactly what it's made of.

The new again idea of chicken keeping is a great one. You know where your food comes from, they keep down the insect population and are great pets besides.

There was a time when all Americans were encouraged to keep chickens in order to support our country and help it stay strong and grow!! Please consider the benefits to our citizens, the community and our county when individuals are sharing in food production and developing skills that foster responsibility and concern for our environment. Keeping small livestock has these benefits!
