Chickens for All in Redlands

We can live peacefully with a few chickens

Chickens cause less noise, smell, and problems than most dogs. They are the ultimate in "green"-eating scraps, bugs, and providing food. If Redlands cares about being sustainable, we should start allowing small backyard flocks.

Absolutely support this petition, healthy organic home raised chickens/ egg's.

Chickens are great pets, useful (they also eat bugs, including black widows), and small. Even a rooster isn't as loud or destructive as a dog can be. Salmonella is also carried by reptiles and birds that live wild. There is no rational reason not to allow chickens in town, if kept responsibly.

I think the city should allow chickens. We have bigger problems to worry about in my hometown i.e. homeless invading my beautiful city.

There is no justifiable reason as to why Redlands residents cannot keep chickens per reasons cited here: they are quiet, sustain the ecology environment, provide healthy food and diminish unwanted bugs and insects. Please change this ruling to coincide with the city's support for sustainable 'green' lifestyles.

I'd be happy to help present the case to the city council. I was part of the original group of community members who wrote the city's Sustainability Plan. Many of us in the group were very disappointed with the city's decision to eliminate our clause we wrote that would have allowed residents have residential chickens. I still have contact with the others I work with. I can talk to them about helping the petition. Kathy

It should be our right as citizens to have chickens in our yards. We have cats and dogs. It's all the same but we get food from chickens Many dogs disturb the peace with their non-stop barking. Just saying.

Please allow residents to keep chickens. Eggs from pet chickens are so much better than mass produced store eggs. And it's time for people to learn to produce their own food again.

I have had very friendly chickens in the past. They came when called, ate all the slugs, and were a joy to watch.

I support this petition and urge for its passage and approval, for all the green reasons listed.

I know exactly how you feel, I live here in Redlands and am trying to find the right, special home for my two Emotional Support Chickens. Not very successfully, either!

Yes for a few chickens!!

I see no problem with having a few hens in one's backyard, so long as their pen is kept clean. They are very quiet.

Allow chickens for all!!

Well cared for chickens should not be a problem in a residential neighborhood. Back yard chickens are very beneficial and a great experience for those in the household.

Backyard chickens are beneficial! They provide both eggs and fertilizer. I often trade my citrus for fresh eggs. Please allow homeowners in Redlands to have chickens.
