Petition Supporting an Area Variance for Pet Chickens at 215 Melancthon Ave
To encourage a kind, conscientious and engaged community, I, the undersigned, support the right of residents to make full use of their property by undertaking projects and improvements that maintain the spirit and character of Historic Lutherville, as decided by a majority of residents, and are considerate of their neighbors.
The raising of chickens is a clean, quiet, environmentally friendly, Victorian appropriate past-time in keeping with the character and spirit of Historic Lutherville. With these principles in mind, I, the undersigned, support a variance from the required 1 acre minimum lot size, at 215 Melancthon Ave where the size of this lot is .93 acres, to allow the possession of well cared for pet chickens.

The County code should be changed to allow for chickens on much smaller properties. How are chickens worse than three dogs? This is a stupid code.
I walk passed this property often, and enjoy chickens. I like them, and like to have them in the neighborhood.
FREE THE CHICKENS FROM THIS CHICKEN OPPRESSION! THE WHOLE THING IS FOWL. ROOTING FOR YOU GUYS! (I felt the usage of capital letters necessary)
its honestly ridiculous that .07 acres makes a difference to anyone. let them have the birds already.
I saw a billboard that said “Eat Mor Chickn” being painted by some cows and I can only assume supporting THIS was what they wanted me to conclude from that.
I totally support the variance, chickens and their fresh eggs!

I am in the glen arm zip code and obtained a variance a few years ago. Best of luck and feel free to email me for suggestions of you want them.
