Chicken ordenance for Butler Township Pennsylvania

We should have chickens they are very good for many things. Healthy eggs... eat grubs and other annoying insects... bring nutrients to the ground

More people should be allowed to raise their own food.

I thought you were allowed. I was told you could have up to 5 hens but no roosters and you had to keep them fenced in.

I don’t understand why township should not allow chickens. As long as the are not roaming the streets, why not. No roasters though lol. I don’t want woke up at the crack of dawn.

Price of food is to high so I think we should be able to raise our own food

I have chickens . I do not kill mine for meat they just lay eggs . They aren't a nuisance I am not sure why they wouldn't be allowed . Obviously they can't free range everywhere but they have nice little coops and things you can buy at places like rural king. My rooster doesn't even make much noise. Some things are just ridiculous

It is silly in the city of butler you can have chickens but not in the twp unless you have a certain amount of property

We don’t live in Butler area at the moment but we wanted to move back there. We will not live in the area if backyard chicken salad would not be allowed. Butler area is a farm town.

Their yard, their house let them have as many rabbits and as many chickens as they want!

I don't currently live there but we are looking at properties and definitely would not consider any area where chickens and the local food security they bring is not valued.

It's time to change a lot of the stupid ordinances.

My chickens are the best... the little girls next door are learning so much from watching them grow! I live in Pittsburgh and work in Butler... amazed that I can keep chickens and people there can’t. Please change this!,

This is just silly. The main focus should be on if the animals are properly cared for (just like any other animal)....not noise. People make more noise than chickens!
