The cheapest and easiest solution of a by pass to the North of Chichester is not in the best interests of the city and surrounding area and links to Chichester across the A27 need to be improved by upgrading of the existing A27.

The North of Chichester is being bombarded with housing developement, a new bypass round Chichester not for local traffic whilst being desired to reduce the congestion on the existing road is not the answer to the problem. Additional housing creates more car issues and the A27 needs money to be make it a better road for local as well as through traffic. A bypass will cause money to be diverted from the existing A27 and create a second problem road that CDC will be unable to fund. Please sort out the first issue before creating a second issue that will only divert money and dilute the avaliable funds resulting in Chichester having 2 sub standard roads.........

New roads generate new traffic. We need an integrated publicly-owned integrated transport system with suitable provision for pedestrians and cyclists.

A northern bypass of the A27 around Chichester would not be money well spent. More good would come from a series of upgrades and improvements to the existing route.

Chichester needs improvements to the existing ring road : I suggest flyovers at the bottle neck roundabouts ; to get a smooth through flow of traffic: and stop building new houses, the area cannot cope.

I can't believe this is even being considered! Improve public transport options, cycleways, pathways. Look at the bottlenecks and resolve them individually. Why choose option to cause much ruin to make a couple of hours a day easier for people passing through?

Building new roads is not a long term solution to congestion. The new roads fill up. Better and cheaper public transport, and better and safer walking and cycle routes are long term solutions. Make rail and bus services more attractive than using a car.

If the new Executive of Highways England are true to their commitment to look at long term value not short term costs then this will see the northern express way for the folly it is. It's not a sustainable solution for the city, the environment or the people.

i grew up between Chichester and Arundel and still spend a lot of time in the area as I have very strong continuing family links there so I am very familiar with the area which this proposal would irreversably destroy. Please, oppose these destructive plans and upgrade the local access with sensitivity and sense instead.

Visitors to this lovely town do not want to find the countryside ruined by yet another new road. In any case, these are always followed by out of town ugly sprawl. There is already a Chichester bypass.
