upgrading the existing southern bypass would be more effective and less destructive to the national park and local environment

Please don't let this southern edge of the South Downs National Park join other tragic victims of road-building like Twyford Down and the villages of Sheet and Steep just across the Sussex-Hampshire border.

Building bypasses is not the answer to traffic problems. NB Traffic increased on the Polegate bypass. When a bypass for Hastings was abandoned in 2001, simultaneously, the town leapt up in a national shopping poll. Sustainable alternatives, eg demand management and improved public transport and facilities for cycling & walking are better than destroying countryside.with new roads, which bring congestion and pollution.

Please don't wreck our route out from the city centre to the South Downs with a northern bypass. Upgrade the existing road for the benefit of everyone, not just motorists, including a safe pedestrian footbridge to the south of the city centre so walkers and cyclists can access Chichester Harbour (Dell Quay).

The northern bypass option seems an extremely bad one.Areas of outstanding beauty will be wrecked and I imagine some very important business will move from the area ie rolls Royce and I also believe that the events operated by Goodwood namely the revival festival of speed and breakfast club will cease to exist-so much employment and business in the area will be adversely effected. In addition it would seem that the proposal would not sort out the traffic problems that exist.

This is a very sensitive area and a great deal of consideration needs to be given to preserving the area. Upgrades to the A27 and A259 would go a long way to solving the problem with little damage to the environment.

Northern bypass would change whole essence of northchichester and adjacent part of West Sussex and the National Park while at the same time not addressing the congestion and time wasting crossing A27 north to south! Really a nightmare scenario that helps non residents of Chichester who will bypass it without noticing it while costing the residents of Chichester in terms of revenue, expense of maintaining the existing A27 and loss forever of the unique part of West Sussex.

Upgrade the A27, do not build a bypass.

I am very worried about the impact on our village and long term damage to the area i think its been ill thought out ' the thoughts of the local people are being ignored especialy after the campaign to stop the daffodil fields from being built on .The council need to remember who votes them in and who they represent

Please stop building along our beautiful Sussex coastline. We already have the A27. That's quite enough thank you.

It's not going to help the traffic down at Sainsbury's area.

Why can't they just add to what is already there? What an utter waste of money and destruction of our beautiful National Park!

The proposed northern bypass will not only disfigure the countryside around Lavant, but it will also become a bleak barrier between Chichester and the South Downs, destroying the character of Northern part of the city which currently opens out onto pleasant fields.

What waste of money. Upgrade and improve what is already there.

I am appalled about the damage this bypass would do to the countryside north of Chichester.

Appalling!! No solution to the problem! Destroying beautiful countryside and a village identity in the process!

We may be just pawns in your game. But that does not mean we are pieces to be moved around your board as you please. We still play the game just as much as you do. Don't you understand. Together, we will not let you win.

What an incredible waste of time, money and resources - simply improve the existing infrastructure which should have been done 20 years ago.

Upgrade the current road with flyovers and underpasses, rather than dig up more of the countryside and this is from someone living on the south side of the A27 who will suffer from the disruption

Let's improve public transport in the Chichester area and encourage people to use buses.
