Chichester Deserves Better

This bypass will ruin the peaceful quite villages arround Chichester. Like myself many visit these tranquil villages in this area , just to get away from noise and polution!

Should this proposal be approved, not only will it cause irreparable damage to the environment but adversely impact on the well being of the residents in what has increasingly become an over crowded area.

I can't believe the Earl of March is happy about this - attention should be paid to the HUMUNGUOUS amount of money his events bring to the area - don't despoil that countryside. Also,on the premise the more cupboards one has the more stuff with which you fill them - the more roads are built (as opposed to improved) the more traffic will be attracted to fill it. Where does it stop

I am supporting this petition to oppose the proposed northern bypass for the A27. This bypass would ruin the current beautiful setting that is Chichester and would not solve the issues with the current A27.

This will be a criminal act if this went ahead. Taking more of our Countryside and turning it into a concrete jungle.

The impact on this beautiful green space at the foot of the South downs would be totally disastrous. Developing the already urbanised area south of chichester is far more logical.

It is important to keep this part of the countryside country. Traffic will urbanize it.

Chichester and the surrounding areas are such beautiful places, please do not ruin it,let's keep the precious green areas.

The existing A27 could be upgraded at far less cost and disruption, flyovers at the roundabouts and 3 lanes each side would do it. That would also enable local traffic not to get snarled up in the through traffic. The area north of Chichester is predominantly unspoilt countryside and most importantly an area that is already prone to flooding. The sort of earth moving involved in such a scheme would make more problems with the water table.

We need to save all the green spaces we can.These areas are what makes Chichester special and the reason why people visit.

Building this bypass will spoil the area and will mean Goodwood will cease to exisr

I believe it would be much more cost effective to upgrade the A27 than to destroy large areas of our countryside!

Yet another attack on the Sussex countryside by business profiteers and those serving their interests - clearly an attempt to "open up" greenfield areas for lucrative development. This has got to be stopped.

Bitterly oppose these plans, which at great expense will solve little but damage and devastate much.

This development would be catastrophic for the local environment in one of the most beautiful areas of southern England. The fact that this idea was even mooted beggars belief.

The existing four lane high way (A27) could far more practically be widened to six and crossings be dealt with as they should have been years previously. This would be logical, efficient and sooner achieved .It would not require decimating the countryside or enable further covering of the locality with housing to appease transient bureaucrats by 'generating' jobs or bestowing kudos. We should be using what we have more efficiently not careening towards destroying our landscape , life style and planet!

This is the result of beaucratic bored engineers lacking imagination who totally misunderstand the nature and beauty of Chichester. This is part of the londonisation of Britain and the Winchesterisation of Chichester.

The proposed northern bypass, on the edge of the National Park, would be very damaging to Chichester, and bring little or no benefit.

This proposal will do very little to alleviate the problems of the existing bypass, but will ruin Chichester and large parts of the South Downs national park for future generations.
