The northern route is a disaster for this beautiful area, cutting a swathe through farmland and garden, and adjacent to a national park. PLEASE PLEASE stop it and consider other options!

I feel very strongly that the proposal for the Northern A27 Bypass is seriously flawed. The most cost effective and logical solution is to improve the existing Southern route. No serious economic case has been forthcoming to justify the enormous cost and damage to the neighbourhood any northern transport system will result in.

This is a ridiculous idea that would destroy an area of beautiful countryside, damage precious wildlife and pose a serious threat to the South Downs National Park. Local villages would be ruined and resident's lives totally destroyed. I have grown up in this stunning area of countryside and would hate to see it ruined for future generations. There are much better solutions available that would not cause unnecessary destruction to our wonderful natural environment.

The A27 must be upgraded in the South to help the residents and the Chichester economy. A northern bypass would damage tourism and some of the biggest employees that drive the local economy

We did not argue for a strategic gap between Chichester and Lavant for it to be taken up by a bypass, which would also be going across a flood plain and very close to Goodwood airport. Such a new road would also greatly damage a superb rural environment. Better by far upgrade the present bypass, which is also much more appropriate for traffic linking from Bognor, Selsey and the Witterings.

A topographical model will demonstrate just how intrusive this dreadful proposal is. Also the road noise will impinge greatly on the peace here.

No to a northern bypass around Chichester. It would irreversibly spoil this beautiful landscape and I would like the existing A27 route to be improved to cope with current and future traffic needs.

I am strongly opposed to a northern bypass solution to the amelioration of the A27 traffic problems. Improvements to the existing Southern route is more logical and cost effective.

The existing A27 is already a dual carriageway, and can handle the existing flow of traffic, if you spend the money to sort out the roundabouts. This section of the road should never have been built using roundabouts at the intersections in the first place. The money needs to be spent to create flyovers and motorway style junctions. That will fix the problems once and for all, without creating further damage to the environment.

This proposal will lead to roads which are currently quiet, on which I cycle recreationally, being busier with cars joining and leaving this main road.

I can't even cut a tree down in my garden as 'singleton' is in the South Downs national park yet this northern bypass will destroy acres of historic and beautiful southdownds countryside. Where is the logic?

Destroying beautiful countryside for another road which will only increase the number of cars is not a sustainable answer to congestion.

We oppose the northern bypass as it will destroy a peaceful area.
