Devastating such a beautiful part of countryside with its special villages would be criminal. Cutting Chichester off from the National Park! There are so few places left to enjoy nature and peace - the pollution undoubtedly would spread and irreversibly ruin the quality of life for all who live, enjoy and visit this beautiful area. Upgrade the existing road.

This looks rather a sledgehammer to crack a nut and would destroy a good chunk of green belt or close to green belt. I would have thought some improvements to the existing route might be more proportionate and cheaper.

This proposal would tear apart a vital green lung for the area and destroy a valued amenity. Upgrading the existing road must be more logical - and less costly.

This is an outrageous so-called solution. If an under- pass can be achieved for Hindhead, it could be repeated here. Costly yes but an irreversibly damaged eco system is just that. This is an already stressfully overcrowded part of the country and the remaining spaces should be sacrosacnt - quite especially a National Park!!!

How can carving up the countryside be better than improving the roads we have already got?
The idea of ruining great swathes of beautiful landscape and destroying the habitat for our wildlife, just to put down more tarmac which will increase noise pollution , and more animals will be
killed, seems a ludicrous idea.
The council have more than enough trouble looking after the roads that we already have, how are they going to afford to repair even more tarmac

This bypass is not needed. It would destroy beautiful countryside. Why not carry out improvements to the current bypass incl tunnel/overpass and more filter lanes.

Why did you create a national park and then attempt to destroy it with traffic and pollution? It's such a fragile Eco-structure, in an ever decreasing wilderness, we must respect it. Rather consider reduction of traffic such as enforced car sharing which works brilliantly all over the world, or better and more affordable railway services.

It is my opinion that a northern bypass would cause irreversible and catastrophic damage to not only the geographical area but to the economy as well; potentially to the whole Chichester district.
It will severely damage the areas tourism and leisure industries, as well as drive away high profile and prestigious businesses.
The better option - would be to concentrate on upgrading the existing route.

I moved to north Chichester for the beauty of the area and a beautiful cathedral city. Improve the A27 not destroy the countryside with tarmac and potential new housing.We have a national park on our doorstep for the benefit of people not cars.
