I fully agree with the opposition towards the plans for a northern (extra) bypass of the A27. Please improve the existing southern bypass!

The proposed northern route would destroy the character and quality of the outlying areas of Chichester and Goodwood. Upgrade the existing A27 as per previously promoted as an option.

I fully support this Petition and urge the authorities to urgently bring about much needed improvements to the A 27, which are long overdue and have been delayed and postponed for far too long. A couple of overpasses or underpasses would make a considerable improvement in and around Chichester, which on a daily basis is grossly choked up with traffic and frequently gridlocked.

Improving the existing A27 has a smaller impact on the city and its character. Flyovers and underpasses to allow unhindered traffic flow are all possible on the existing route.

When are we going to get some "planners" who can think sensibly and instead of just building another bypass. Upgrade the existing one and put proper junctions instead of the ubiquitous roundabout nonsense, ie build flyovers on the existing A27 bypass you Muppets....

This Northern Bypass would be a disaster for the area and destroy peoples homes and the very character that Chichester is famous for. Improve the current road.

The gung-ho 'one size fits all' attitude to our glorious region is really frightening. As someone who battles daily with the local traffic, I entirely concur that the solution is not a new by-pass, which will not touch the increased traffic from the already approved new building. The solution has to benefit both the local and the through traffic.

The northern route will exhaust and exceed funding available (always an overrun on costs) so the existing A27 route will have no funds available. Neither residents to the south of that route, existing industry nor new housing in the Local Plan (just approved) will benefit.
Road capacity is a function of junction designs and not straight runs so let the funding available be spent where the majority of people will benefit by upgrading the junctions on the southern route

Chichester has a bye pass, it just needs some well thought improvements, not cutting a gash through some of the most wonderful countryside in the area.

I whole heartedly oppose this northern bypass. Having lived in Lavant for over 11 years this would clearly ruin the idealic surrounds of the Goodwood area and views would be lost in heavy traffic. I have noticed more and more traffic coming through the Lavant straight early morning and upgrades and improvement to the existing route would definitely benefit. The narrow parts of the road and pot holes to the sides getting bigger year on year will cause accidents in the future with heavy traffic coming through on a bypass. Lets not ruin the area we have loved with a bypass

This is one of the most shocking plans I have ever heard of, to ruine our amazing South Downs when there is a perfectly good road that just needs up grading for modern day traffic use. (A27)

Stop ruining the country with mire roads, improve what we have and save our land for the wildlife that we need to exist!
Please don't ruin this beautiful, small but characterful city! It will destroy wildlife, cause more pollution and turn Chichester into a mad chaotic place like all the rest!
