Such a bypass would destroy countryside which is used by many dog walkers in particular the large ampitheatre field off Hunters Race.

I am completely opposed to plans for a northern bypass. As everyone locally knows, the answer is to upgrade the existing bypass so that local traffic from the south can cross it without congestion to through traffic.

the value of Chichester will cease if hotels are not fully booked by goodwood events if north route is brought in as no roads seam in or out have been considered for entry to local villages and events.

The only correct option is to improve the existing southern A27. Never to take the cheap easy northern route. This is 'Gods Perfect land' once damaged it will never come back. Andrew Tyrie, should be called upon to read 'The Stream' By Brian Clarke. ISBN 0-552-77077-9 Once ruined, we have lost all this for our childrens children. Please think of the long term loss & not the short term gain!

Fully agree with your comments that local not through traffic is the problem. A northern bypass would do little to resolve the problems.

Listen to the experts who, predict the consequences of the proposal and don't build this road.

I strongly oppose the plans for a northern bypass of the A27 around Chichester

The most obvious and economic solution would appear to be to create fly-overs at existing choke points allowing through traffic to by pass the city and give local traffic easier access into town.

I think that upgrading the existing A27, whilst probably going to be highly complicated to install, is better then a northern bypass that could lead "infilling" housing developments that would be a most likley damaging consequence of that option..

Leave our countryside alone!! No to the end of Goodwood Revival and Festival of Speed, no to the loss of Kingley Vale and no to the desecration of our beautiful National park.

We don't want a bypass near Goodwood. The A27 should be improved by putting flyovers where the roundabouts are.

The South Downs are a vital green lung for the South-East; development on or near them must be avoided.

There was objectionable and damaging infilling on severed roads following the building of the new A27 between Chichester and Havant. A northtern bypass would inveitably see that as well as other more conventional and undesireable developments, so near to the National Park.

The Northern route will destroy places that are valued for their beauty and their history. It will also sever the link between Chichester and the Downs to the north of the city, a vital part of its historic character and setting. The improvement of the existing southern bypass is both feasible, cost effective and significantly of local benefit as it will improve the lot of local traffic accessing the city during peak times and busy summer weekends by separating local and through traffic at the exisiting roundabouts. How anyone could seriously suggest a completely new bypass on an alignment for the A27 north of Chichester beggars belief.
