The problem has always been to the south of the city. There is adequate land to improve the A27 and no need to destroy productive, beautiful countryside. As a secondary thought, threatening Goodwood will impact on the local economy. It is an important local business and employer.

The only option is to improve the existing a27 through chichester. To build a massive dual carriageway to the north of chichester would be a scandal. It would destroy the beautuful countryside & blight the lives of hundreds of people. I say NO to the northern route

A relief road and flyovers over the roundabouts will allow easier access off the peninsula - there are two main routes off the peninsula at present, adding 1 more route will increase access by at least 50%. A northern route will allow the through traffic to go north but this only represents a maximum of 40% of the traffic and only 50% of that will be heading east to west, which means only 20% causes difficulty to the south traffic around the existing bypass.

The northern route is a ridiculous option and merely the easiest lazy option available. The main hold up relates to the fact half of people can't drive or indicate. However the other major hold up is Bognor roundabout. If that were to be designed to more effective, perhaps with filter entrance and exits then you would solve one of the major holds ups in the set of bypasses flowing through Chichester. But the northern option is a terrible decision.

What utter madness all they need is an underpass route at each existing roundabout and all will we ok, that's how most of Europe design their city junctions

Why not use the existing road and build underpasses at each roundabout? This would speed up any through traffic and still allow access for local traffic. Crazy to build a massive new road through green fields and the National Park!

Sort out the a27..if you have a northern by pass you will still need roundabouts for all the local access..it will just be the a27 congestion problem all over again ..why are we not looking at a selsey penninsula tram system..flyover..or understand?..not to destroy this beautiful city by walking it in with dual carriage ways..some one listen and save our city
