Do not spoil this beautiful countryside. Improving the existing A27 would be a much better option.

this represents a good lesson in how to ruin local events and diminish the local economy by so doing . I simply CANNOT believe that any of the planners have driven this route themselves ..and suggest they do so to see how it would RUIN the ambiance and bring even more pollution near dwellings . A foul prospect

altho living to the south of Chichester, I'm dead against any new roads to the north of the city. it would be an environmental disaster!

The proposals would have irreversibly damaging effects on the nature of Chichester and its surrounding villages. A far better option would be to create a series of fly-overs starting on the Stockbridge roundabout to reduce the bottleneck from local traffic.

Why blight the village of Lavant and thousands of lives when the simplest and cheapest solution would be to upgrade the existing route and which would be met with many fewer objections. Once a ring rroad is built the temptation to infill with development will be too much and Chichester will become a complete conurbation. At what point do we stop desecrating this southeastern corner of England - will we wait until the entire area is covered in concrete ? By then it will be too late.

My mother lives in Chichester and it is an area I grew up in. I would hate to see a new bypass change the area so drastically. Why ruin such a beautiful place?!

A northern bypass will blight the link between Chichester and the downs. Also the accident prone southern bypass needs improvements for safety reasons, and if the northern bypass goes ahead, there will be no funding for improvements to the south.my wife recently nearly lost her life in an RTA at the telcos roundabout .

A huge amount of the traffic causing congestion on the present "by-pass" is from local villages south of the A27. A northern by-pass will not alleviate that.

This proposal seems bizarre. The existing A27 is already a dual carriageway and can surely be upgraded at relatively minor cost. Please, please do not sacrifice yet more fantastic countryside and spoil another irreplaceable corner of England. The Goodwood estate has a unique flavour and atmosphere which would be lost for ever. Even if this northern route were to be built, I cannot believe the overall situation would be better; the other bottlenecks on the A27 (Worthing and Arundel) would become bigger misery spots. And don't imagine the southern route would become magically clear - this might flow clearly for a few days and then become re-clogged with yet more unnecessary journeys now made more feasible.

The A27 Chichester Bypass has been an issue for 30 years, if not more. With the completion of dual carriageway from Havant to Chichester, it was obvious to all that Chichester would be the next bottleneck and yet little has be done to plan for this. The route is already established to the South and requires only to be upgraded to near motorway standard. But, to me, this appears to be the problem, Chichester doesn't want the A27 to be of motorway standard, 'not in keeping with the City'. If this is the case, then no matter what route is developed, we will still have the same traffic issues. If the Northern route is chosen, you will have restrictions to the flow of traffic, in and out of the City, in the South and to the North.
Upgrade the existing Southern route, flyovers and underpasses as required, restrict the number of access points to it, and you will resolve the issues.
