This is an area of outstanding natural beauty. We do not need to desecrate our countryside for the sake of motor cars. Please let us keep this 'green and pleasant land' Thank you

I can not believe that in the 21st century people can be so ignorant to the natural beauty that they are about to destroy and the history that goes with estates such as Goodwood. Surely this will not go ahead, as this will destroy some wonderful events that are held at Goodwood and the landscape surrounding it. The views would never be the same again from the trundle and other local view points and this would be so upsetting to so many that come the national park for the beauty that it has to offer.

The Northern route won't solve anything, it's just double the trouble.

This plan would ruin an historic area of outstanding beauty

It's all part of a National Park and must not be touched.

Show some sense and do not proceed with this proposal. It is an area of outstanding beauty and tranquility.

The solution to traffic congestion is NOT to buid more roads. We have to start being more creative, respecting our environment, our townspeople and plan for a cleaner, sustainabe future.

Leave the countryside alone. It is beautiful just the way it is. Just do not put in any bypass of the A27. Quality of life with beauty is important.

Chichester already has a bypass, which just needs improving. we do not want to destroy the beautiful south downs national park and surrounding countryside

It's a no brainer: improve the A27, somehow get rid of roundabouts, traffic lights, make it an uninterrupted carriageway through to other side of Arundel

Chichester is being ruined already by small independent shops having to close and many units left empty, you won't need to sort the traffic situation out soon as nobody will want to come here unfortunately

The local people must know what is best for the area so let them decide what needs to be done!

We are losing far too much precious land to "development. " This is additional madness & can only add to the pollution, potential flooding and rape of the ancient country side. This is irreplaceable.

There is in my view no logical reason for a northern bypass - the A 27 serves the purpose and the somewhat less speedy secondary roads that lead to Midhurst, Lavant and Goodwood are a necessarily distinct to that major artery. Please respect the downs and all they mean as places of peace and inspiration to artists and public alike. The petrol powered motor car is already an anachronism we should not be easing its passage.

There is a huge problem with the blocked up A27 but this is due to the ridiculously rapid housing construction which the council has undertaken leading to a hugely densely populated West Sussex. It is not appropriate to build a new road through a national park that in theory is protected from this kind of destruction and therefore ruining what little untouched landscapes England has. Please rethink this idea and use the unbelievable amounts of money that will be spent on helping through traffic to helping local traffic be recirculated.

Why rip more country side up. Especially when this is not the only option

Building more roads does not solve traffic problems - it just creates more traffic

This is absurd, beautiful woodlands should be left. Upgrade A27.

Keep Chichester as is.

There is a reason that the South Downs is a National Park. This is beautiful irreplaceable area of outstanding natural beauty, once gone it can never be replaced. Chichester does indeed deserve so much better.
