The proposals for a northern bypass for the A27 would be ruinous to our famously beautiful countryside, urbanize the area and still leave the A27 with all its problems. A total waste of money which should be spent on finding solutions to the present A27 route.

The existing A27 already bypasses Chichester, it just needs upgrading.

Just improve the existing A27 with flyovers or underpasses.

I am opposed to plans for a northern bypass. I am for the existing route, the A27, being upgraded.

It is very sad to see that ploughing up green spaces based on out of date traffic statistics seems to be a viable option from people who should know better.

Clearly the thing to do is improve the A27 not vandalise an area of such natural beauty by building a northern bypass

I have been a resident of East Lavant since 1984 and I love the place. The possibility of a dual carriageway passing close to the village upsets me very much. I feel that the Bypass does not fulfil the objectives stated in Highway England’s proposed benefits, namely – easing traffic with limited adverse environmental impact.

I was horrified to hear about this development through the on line petition at New Year . Having just moved to this idyllic corner of West Sussex . . .

Having used the A27 extensively to commute to work, the only practical solution is to improve the infrastructure on the existing routes. The roundabouts are the biggest problem. Introduce a tunnel/a fly over to keep traffic moving. DO NOT desecrate our beautiful countryside and surrounding villages with a scheme that will not alleviate the rush hour traffic problem.

I use the a27 a lot to get to work and although no longer live in Chichester feel strongly that building more roads will only take from chichesters charm. An improved road system seems like a much improved idea!!

a northern bypass as suggested would be awful; upgrading the existing road is the better option by far!

This needs a proper consultation and time to consider the alternatives fully.
