We cannot ruin the north of Chichester - goodwood is the jewel in the crown of our beautiful area and contributes much to the local economy.

Surely, cutting into the countryside north of Chichester would do untold damage to the villages, the wonderful countryside and agricultural land. There would be too much damage to peoples lives, and too much to lose.

The idea of a Northern Expressway is nonsensical. There should be a full scale upgrade of the A27 which is long long overdue. The U.K. should surely have a southern motorway linking the south west with the south coasts ports and the M25 and the East Coast. How can we function as a modern economy with such a poor road system. The existing route needs modernisation and however much it costs the returns will be immediate and far reaching.

It has long made both economic and practical sense to upgrade the current A27 Chichester By Pass to improve life in, and around this wonderful historic city. Proper over and underpasses on the major intersections to provide continuous (non-stop) flow of West-East-West traffic. This will improve intercity connection without destroying our irreplaceable countryside.

The Northern bypass would destroy the whole ambiance of Northern Chichester, and do serious damage to world famous Goodwood events.

Whilst I am frequently frustrated by the congestion on the A27 around Chichester, I could not contemplate the loss of a vast swathe of our glorious local countryside. Furthermore, I believe we have a duty to protect this for the benefit of future generations who would not thank us for the loss of it. Congestion will continue to rise, along with the "necessary" housebuilding in the area - in time we will have to find other ways to combat it or we risk losing our green and pleasant land entirely.

A northern bypass would not solve most of the problems of the A27 and would be a noisy and visual intrusion on picturesque countryside

Please listen to the community that these proposals will effect. There is another way to do this that doesn't cut up the countryside and divide communities.

I live near Goodwood, and any proposed expressway or new road carved through this area will ruin the appearance and atmosphere of this special area.

Irresponsible vandalism! What an insane proposal. Simply upgrade the A27 in the same way as the Havant/Hayling Roundabout was, and the Portsmouth/Farlington road with flyovers. Simple, cost effective, the intelligent solution.
