I was alerted to this by Goodwood Sculpture Park, it is staggering that such a beautiful part of England should be under threat.

The area is designated as one of outstanding natural beauty. In order to preserve the Devil's Punchbowl the suggestion of a spectacular bridge was overturned in favour of a tunnel in order to preserve the scenic area - maybe the same should be considered for the northern bypass or better still improve the existing route which will have wider benefits to the travelling public and the local citizens.

its a joy visiting the area, full of wonderful theatre in Chichester, the world class Cass Sculpture Park, and natural beauty.
There must be an alternative. in addition to improving public transoprt

Don't damage our beautiful countryside and local amenities just for the sake of getting people to work faster! There must be a better way to ease traffic congestion in our beautiful part of the country that won't cause damage to local housing, the national park and the Goodwood Estate.

I am apalled that anyone could consider the line of th eproposed bypass as ever being acceptable.
The obvious route is to double the south bypass with tunnels at current junctions

Has anybody thought this through? A northern bypass around Chichester cuts through some of the most beautiful and unspoilt country in southern England. Not only that, it wouldn't work. What about the next bottleneck - and the next - along the south coast. Far better to control traffic speeds along the necklace of roundabouts skirting the city. Maybe even build underpasses.

Not only does Chichester Reserve Better....... the entire region deserves better!!! Tearing through the countryside is NOT the solution. Upgrading the junctions all along the exsisting A27 is the answer. Reinvest the funds into that rather a new, pointless, bypass!!

I agree with Andrew Tyrie, a northern bi-pass will not improve traffic flow problems for those people living in the Manhood Peninsula. Please let's preserve our beautiful down land countryside for all to enjoy.

We live near the A27 in the Lewes area where this road is frequently a nightmare particularly between Lewes and Polegate. Such a grandiose scheme carving up the countryside near Chichester is absolute nonsense.

Don't ruin more of our beautiful countryside for the sake of money. It is what makes this area as attractive and sought after as it is. Use what we have A27 and make it better. It will be painful now but so much better for future generations as well as ourselves.
