The A27 already exists south of Chichester, why not improve this road rather than carve up one of the most beautiful parts of England!

Destroying a section of beautiful countryside is not an option. The ancient landscape will be lost forever.
The existing infrastructure can be improved. Future generations will be eternally grateful for a sensitive decision now.

We don't want a highway near Goodwood. Making slip roads instead of roundabouts on the existing A27 would be better!

Improvements to the southern routes esp those from the coast northwards and to the current A27 would seem a better solution all round rather than a route close to the S Downs National Park.

It makes more sense to repair and improve the existing road. An underpass at the Fishbourne/Tesco and Sainsbury's A27 roundabouts for instance. The traffic lights at Tangmere work, why remove them? Marking the Donnington and Whyke roundabouts with yellow grid boxes at the Donnington and Hunston exit points, to prevent nose to tail jamming during busy periods and therefore delays to cars entering / exiting at those points. Etcetera.

I strongly oppose the proposal for a northern bypass for Chichester. Improving the existing road, and particularly the intersections, will do vastly more to speed access for both through traffic as well as local traffic.
A northern bypass would not solve the problems of the southern route but would destroy pristine land and ruin the area for ever. The road would swiftly be followed by infill development, more people and therefore exacerbate the existing problem.
I have been told by one landowner that developers have already made approaches to build on their agricultural land.

We have to stop destroying all our countryside. Please please upgrade the existing road, don't destroy yet more habitat and farmland. It won't matter how fast people can drive when we can't feed ourselves as we have no natural resources left.

I lived in Emsworth for 15 years until last year and think this is a totally unnecessary bypass which will destroy a lot of valuable wildlife habitats, farming land and village communities.

The problem is compounded by the railway gates bringing the city to gridlock, sort that out first. Do not destroy our historic city.

This would be a disaster for one of the most wonderful natural areas in the South. We do not need a new bypass, you just need to improve the junctions on the existing ones. What happened to the flyovers? This would be cheaper and have less impact on our beautiful countryside

The Northern bye pass would be a shabby option, destroying the area whilst not addressing the real issues of local traffic. Improving the existing A27 is the right option.
