I live in Charlton & feel that this proposed route will isolate villages north of the proposed route & also ruin a beautiful area. Upgrade required.

Very simply a Northern route is not the way forward. Upgrade the present bypass with under passes so that through traffic can flow

The ramifications for the local population have not been thought through and the effects on the South Downs and its inhabitants and on Chichester, one of the few characterful cities left, will be irreversible.

The negative collateral effects, I suspect, as in any case like this, have not been thought through. To solve a specific problem in one of the few areas in England left of historic , cultural and natural beauty. What is left of this country seems to be hellbent on a policy of universal uglification.

Why would anyone consider building a whole new bypass along the edge of s national park and through Goodwood and Fishbourme? Surely it's common sense to upgrade the existing road when the majority of traffic is local? Please stop destroying our lands and make a sensible decision to keep our road numbers limited

This approach to the trouble the a27 brings to the Chichester area would be disastrous for the local area - to wildlife and residents alike. I support an alternative approach to rectify the problems along the route of the current road.

So much has already been said but it is interesting to note the point of view of a holiday-maker who states that the natural beauty of the area will be spoilt if this proposed northern bypass is allowed. It is not just for us living here but for others who love this area and visit it and for the future generations that we must preserve the swathe of land north of Chichester and allow the integrity of the place to remain.

There is in my view no logical reason for a northern bypass - the A27 serves the purpose and the somewhat less speedy secondary roads that lead to Midhurst, Lavant and Goodwood are a necessarily distinct to that major artery. Please respect the downs and all they mean as places of peace and inspiration to artists and public alike.

There is a potential flooding problem with the northern route as it will channel water into the lavant rather than soak into the land lie the daffodil field this could flood fordwater

My family holiday regularly in Selsey. A northern bypass will destroy the character of the area to the north of Chichester, and create more road space to fill. The simple solution is to upgrade the existing road to the south.
