I can see why central government think a northern route is a good idea but they must not be so short-sighted. It would not only ruin the beautiful countryside but cut right through the Goodwood estate and potentially bring a halt to the world-class events that have built up over the years. So damaging to local businesses, who are reliant upon tourists.

The noise and air pollution would be absolutely unbearable for us and we would have to move for health reasons!

What is the problem with flyovers for local traffic moving from south to north? It would ruin our local employment ie, Goodwood and Rolls Royce.

The northern Bypass makes no sense at all. Deranged minds in charge is all we need.

Remove the existing roundabouts as proposed in option 1. Should have been done years ago!

Please don't spoil anymore beautiful countryside and natural wildlife habitat! Stop creeping urbanisation - relentless expansion of housing and road building will mean rural landscape will cease to exist in the UK! PLEASE DON'T BUILD THIS BYPASS!

My late Husband & I know the area well & I am appalled that such a suggestion could even be made of a Northern route which would desecrate an area of outstanding beauty.

I agree with others, that it is the major junctions and roundabouts on the A27 south of Chichester which need re-designing to ease local traffic and summer tourists visiting the Witterings and nearby areas. What I cannot fathom out, is why anything involving Chichester and the A27 should be proposed now, without first agreeing a solution for Arundel and actually completing it ! Until this is completed, there will be little improvement on the A27 east-west flow, whatever happens at Chichester. This makes conspiracy theorists think the real agenda is one of building more houses in Chichester, within a convenient new northern perimeter boundary.

Local traffic is the problem.....sort out that first before embarking on re-routing a relatively small proportion of through traffic!!

flyovers at the roundabouts

Upgrade and improve the existing A27, initially with traffic management to reduce roundabout speeds to keep traffic moving and long term with flyovers.

There should be bypasses over the roundabouts along the A27

All the available evidence suggests improvements to the current A27 are the best option.

The bypass is a proposal which would irretrievably damage our beautiful area and must be stopped in its formative tracks without question.

Fed up with sitting in traffic congestion anytime I need to travel in and around Chichester. Please improve the A27 and road infrastructure to meet requirements now and for the future.

This is still a rural area which would change the feel completely and also spoil one of the loveliest approaches to Chichester.
