It appears the vast majority of you live no where near Chichester and are simply anti roads in general. As someone who has lived in Chichester my entire life I am certain that merely making changes to the existing southern route will be a mere sticking plaster before the road is yet again well over design capacity and congested, by the highway agency's own admission the southern route would again be over design capacity a mere decade after an upgrade! A northern route is the only viable solution for the long term well being of Chichester. To you lot a northern bypass is an unnecessary blot on the landscape; to me it is a direly needed increase in capacity which would lead to less congestion, less traffic and pollution in central chichester, faster commutes, and quite frankly a better quality of life. Imagine if your commute consisted of using a series of outrageously under capacity roundabouts snaking around the city, inching forward queuing for several roundabouts in a row. Most of my commute is spent queuing for roundabouts! Driving at weekends isn't any better as suddenly the roads are jammed with tourists heading for the witterings beach and blocking up stockbridge roundabout, huge queues stretching for miles and backing up central Chichester. Its alright for you lot who don't live in Chichester, you lot only have to put up with the rubbish A27 once in blue moon! YES TO A NORTHERN ROUTE

Area of outstanding natural beauty.National Park, I walk there frequently, the rules can not be changed on these designated areas.

The downs and the goodwood estate make Chichester what it is. A northern route would be a painful, permanent and manmade scar on the beautiful land we are so lucky to share.

I am a regular user of the A27 passing Chichester - a series of flyovers on the current route has always been the way to go.

You will destroy a very special place.
The approach from Chichester to the Goodwood racing circuit and estate will be destroyed. You will break a very special link between the city and the downs. It would be completely mercenary.

Please keep this beautiful area as it is. There are better options to consider to improve existing roads rather than destroy the surrounding areas.
We should be encouraging the use of public transport / pedal power rather than just building more roads. Invest in considerably improving current facilities.

I don't live in Chichester but visit it and have a good friend whose house will be affected badly by this proposal. Pl rethink the repercussions to the community and environment by building the northern bypass of the A27. Thank you.

What an appalling idea to have part of the ancient countryside and villages that has been treasured for generations and admired by so many to be turned into a Northern bypass. NO.NO.NO!
