Chichester Deserves Better

Considering Goowood brings a lot of buusiness and money to Chichester Area should be left alone and different plans to solve the problem of A27 should be discussed.

we don't need a Northern by pass. The southern bypass should have underpasses at all the roundabouts . Expensive but not nearly as expensive as a new bypass. They should also sort out the level crossing by the station.

Upgrade existing southern bypass.

Very disappointed and concerned to hear about this proposal that would disturb and disrupt the unique and peaceful nature of this area.

Far better to have two or more 'through' lanes running alongside or over the top of existing bypass omitting all the interchange roundabouts except the eastern - most at Pizza Hut and western - most at Tesco. All through traffic is directed onto these lanes.

Please improve and upgrade the existing route

A northern by-pass route would entail significant destruction and pollution of valuable rural habitats and water drainage, would not enhance the city generally and would not improve the majority of the traffic congestion. To up-grade and improve the existing A27 would benefit the whole of the city in addition to through traffic, and would not impact on the environment and setting of the historic city of Chichester.

If enacted would destroy more of our beautiful countryside

This is totally inappropriate

A northern route would be a disaster for Chichester, effectively cutting the entire city off from its current access to the SouthDownsNational Park and imprisoning us within two motorways.

I feel that Chichester will become a sort of island between 2 major roads. A northern route will not alleviate the problems of people travelling into Chichester or further, who live south of the City.

Bonkers. Destructive. Impractical. Cynical.

The northern proposal is a grave mistake and will not solve the underlying problem. It will cause huge loss of valuable countryside in doing so whilst the traffic continues to build up south of the city.

Up-grade existing bypass, the common sense solution.

The Northern options are a completely unnecessary and costly solution while sorting the junctions on the current route would solve the problem very well.

It would be far more sensible to improve existing bypass by flyovers rather than destroy beautiful downland. Not debateable.

I feel that the 'Northern Route' will not solve the problems, so much could be achieved by upgrading the existing road.

I am very occasionally part of through traffic and would consider a series of upgrades and improvements to the existing route would be more than adequate to keepthe flow of traffic.

I frequently drive past Chichester, and a new bypass would probably benefit me personally - but I'm strongly opposed to building a new dual carriageway through some of southern England's most perfect countryside.

There is no denying that something needs to be done but why cant the existing one be upgraded or moved a mile south? the North is unspoilt and this will be encroaching on the South Downs Park and widely seen from areas such as Kigley Vale. There have been so many plans for upgrading the current one whatever happened to those?
