It is amazing that it is difficult to get planning permission in the national park even for sympathetic designs, yet a new major road? There seems to be something very hypocritical about the northern options and protecting the national park. Looking at the plans there looks to be bottlenecks forming where the old and new roads appear to converge? Are the planners sure they will fix the traffic issue with this?

The Goodwood Estate draws business and tourism to the area which would be badly damaged by this proposed road building. And the impact on the countryside so close to the South Downs is also to be avoided.

Work needs to start as soon as posslble..Soon Chichester will become gridlocked and people will decide not to visit or shop in the town.

I work for Goodwood. Please don't let them ruin a site which so proudly exhibits our English heritage and brings so much custom to local businesses in Chichester on a daily basis and particularly during the large festivals.

Please listen to the people who care for chichester, they are it's life and soul, and they seek to protect its future. This is not the right solution and it needs full consultation. I am a regular at your fabulous theatre and Cass sculpture part, both treasures, for 10yrs traveling by train and car . My son is at uni there. We visit regularly and love Chichester.

A decision to build new a dual carriage way through beautiful West Sussex, is completely ludicrous and quite frankly not particularly clever either. There are problems with the current A27 and these will not be solved through building another.

Please don't destroy what peaceful and beautiful countryside we have to the north of our city, Spend the money on upgrading the existing road by using grade separations at roundabouts as has been done elsewhere.

I was born in Chichester in 1943.I cannot believe that anyone would try and ruin one of the best areas in the country. Part of our heritage. Where do you people stop. We will end up all roads and houses.

I visited Chichester regularly for over 10 years whilst my parents were alive, and their remains are now interred in St Marys East Lavant. The idea of a northern bypass fills me with horror, and I believe a range of improvements to the existing A27 east-west route is the only common-sense solution.

A27 Chichester bypass: not a new road, but a better road! Improve the existing route for the economy and local business, while retaining Chichester's special relationship with the vulnerable South Downs National Park.

Problem would be partly solved from the West by traffic li hits at the Tesco roundabout or an up and over road to allow local traffic underneath and through traffic on the higher road.

It will be devastating to the beautiful countryside and will not solve the problem. I have always said that the roundabout next to Tesco should have a traffic light system which will be far safer for all users and help with the flow of traffic.

It will ruin the beautiful countryside to North of chichester. Traffic light system on the roundabouts along the a27 chichester would be more cost affective and relieve traffic build up. Queues will going down at equal intervals

Chichester is a unique city flanked by outstanding countryside and the glorious Goodwood estate. These features are a magnet for visitors and residents, and, crucially they bring huge economic value to the city, but would be wiped out by thoughtless planning and careless decision-making. Once these features are gone, they are lost forever, and our cherished Chichester will become a soulless Swindon!

Land to the north of chichester is of historic interest with potential sites that have never yet been excavated. It is also an area of outstanding natural beauty, In particular the Lavant Valley which I was pointing out to some friends today as being a timeless view.
Who would benefit from such a scheme, only those who wish to save a few minutes in racing across the county only to be held up by enormous congestion further afield.
