Chichester Deserves Better

A northern bypass will generate more traffic. Not what is needed

Not good enough, to many people will lose jobs!

We must find a solution that protects our countryside.

The damage to our local economy would be inevitable. Goodwood and Rolls Royce provide employment for thousands and the income generated in VAT alone cannot be underestimated. Small businesses, hotels, bed and breakfast, pubs, retaurants, shops, other attractions will all suffer if the road is driven through the north of Chichester. The amenity of the Downs and National Park cannot be temporarily scarred, it will be for ever. This is not Nimbyism but pragmatic common sense.

This will not improve traffic flow on the A27 as Worthing will need to be improved. We understand that the cost of that will be too great to ever be possible. What a waste of land, countryside quietness and beauty and long term misery for the locals. None of can will ever return.

Upgrade exixting A27 with flyovers.

This would ruin the countryside north of Chichester. Just turn the roundabouts on current a27 into flyovers and widen it.

The existing a27 should be improved. Creating a new road through a beautiful part of our area is scandalous. it does not benefit local people in the slightest. The parish of Westhampnett has already been blighted by development and traveller sites....now this. How much more do we have to take?

Chichester will become an island, as many will still use existing A27

I'd rather sit in the traffic than ruin Goodwood. Improvement needed but not at such a massive loss to a beautiful area.

We need fewer journeys in cars, not more roads.

There is no need to desecrate the land to the north of Chichester. Modifications to the existing road (Bye-Pass) would ensure good traffic flows without needing to build another new road. Surely the whole need is to get the traffic moving along the M27 and this could be achieved by making the cross flow traffic impeding the M27 traffic.

A northern bypass would be unnecessary and absolutely wrong, spoiling the area around Goodwood without solving the local traffic problems.

Outrageous

A northern bypass would solve very little, and create even more problems such as noise, pollution, and inevitable urbanisation of the north of Chichester in the coming years.

Simply mad to cut through beautiful countryside and at the same time put local jobs at risk

I cannot believe this proposal I am literally astonished. I Can think of key points along the Current A27 where a flyover or tunnel would ease congestion.....SIMPLE! please there must be an alternative!

Most of the traffic is going to/from Chichester. A bypass solves nothing. Just profits for developers as usual I expect.

What a disastrous proposal. As a frequent user of the A27, I know an improvement is needed but not on a completely new route with such an awful effect on the National Park.

Sometimes I wonder at our so called "priorities". To lose forever a patch of pristine countryside would be a tragedy.
