Consultation on Chestnut Avenue trees on Tooting Common

We should be planting forests rather than felling trees.

This will ruin the appearance of the Common and the enjoyment for those using it.

please leave the beautiful trees alone and put the money to use somewhere else on the common

Outrageous proposal

Removing perfectly healthy trees? Madness! Respect these beautiful trees and plant new ones for the few dead trees which need replacing.

The idea of cutting these trees down are totally unjustified.

as in Sheffield, so in Wandsworth, felling trees to replace them with free, little ones constitutes loss of canopy and biodiversity, and amenity, and history.

I would want the council to do all they can to retain existing healthy trees and to manage those with canker. I think the council should replace diseased trees as and when a tree becomes dangerous.

I grew up with the sight of these trees in the common and I think it's barbaric that the council want to chop them down

Awful idea. Who puts the cpuncil in charge of cutting up wond breaking,old, beautiful trees because a few are sick. Stupid idea. Lose the money.

Cutting down healthy trees in order to keep funding is a world gone mad. Sad the council seems to have lost all common sense in this matter.

Please do not cut down healthy trees, and make sure to replace any that you do need to remove. They are feature of the common that are valued and loved by the local community.

Spent many early mornings gathering conkers in the 50's. In those days, kids could go to the common at 7 in the morning, without their parents being scared stiff. Either that, or early morning fishing in the pond nearby.
