In light of recent events at Cherokee Central Schools, we, the undersigned, are petitioning Tribal Council to repeal Resolution 494 (1971) which established an establishment of an Advisory School Board consisting of the Tribal Education Committee and the elected representatives of eight recogonized communities. We are requesting that a temporary committee serve as the policy making body of the school system until July 31,2012, at which time a permanent Board be created or an election be held for Cherokee Central School parents to vote on a selected slate of Board members who are experienced, educated and degreed.
