Help the mentally-ill and substance abusers roaming the Chelsea streets get the help they need. We need our streets safe and clean — for EVERYONE.

Is homeless person came up to me asking for money and when I said I had none— she took out of a golf club and told me to run.

Chelsea has gone drastically downhill over the past 3-4 months. We are cooped up all day and need to get air and exercise, but we don’t feel comfortable walking around our own neighborhood anymore. I can’t walk the dog at night. This is a public safety and public health issue that requires urgent attention.

I have lived on W 24th/8th for three years— never have I seen the the issue of homelessness be so bad. It has worsened since the pandemic. These people are not just sleeping on the streets, they are doing drugs, sharing needles, raising havoc at night. I was walking to Whole Foods and witnessed a homeless man injecting himself with a needle...during broad daylight!!! It was disturbing and these types of people need to be pushed away from the neighborhood!! Chelsea is home to many families and the cost of living in the area is more expensive than some other nearby neighborhoods. Please clean up the streets!!!

Countless homeless on the streets are threatening the normal people's life and safety. It gets seriously worst. The homeless people are so comfortable to smoke, urinate in public, crack and shooting up everywhere and their behavior are so aggressive. The mayor DeBlasio is not the right person on the current position and is disqualified to take care of NYC. NYC people are struggling to survive and keeping our lives in a better position, but homeless people ruin NYC people's daily life and business. WAKE UP MAYOR DEBLASIO AND LOOK AT OUTSIDE TO LISTEN NYC PEOPLE'S VOICE!!

I’m an area homeowner and taxpayer disgusted by deBlasios non action. Maybe we need to withhold our property taxes and issue the money to clean up our neighborhood.

I'm sick of it. I've lived in Chelsea since before it was gentrified and this current situation way worse than it ever was.

We sat at a restaurant outside of a dumpling restaurant at the corner of 22nd street an 8th ave and were harassed and threatened by a homeless man saying I’m willing to bleed and that we are white racists. We were just having lunch. The proprietors had to come out and prevent him from attacking us. This is not the NYC that we love and grew up in. Where are our NYPD finest? Protect our safety and quality of life. Please put police back on the streets to keep us safe and rebuild the best city in the world.

Yes, thank you for whoever started this petition!
I love NYC and the multi-faceted fabric that makes up this city! But this is extremely sad. And it just got worse.
I've been harrassed with vulgarties no one should have to encounter walking outside their home. It's scary and threatening. Walking alone at night is no longer an option.
I've watched addicts flop like a fish out of water on the sidewalks, people relieving themselves on the street from either body part. It's an assembly line outside of my building with people asking for money, only to go play lotto at the newsstand. I've witnessed the West Side Market deal with an aggressive flow of shoplifting. It was my decision to move to a busy cross section in Manhattan however this is embarrassing.
I watched two middle aged women get rammed in the back of their car, only to see the offender press on the gas, run a light and take off. I stayed with them for as long as I could. Over an hour and not a officer or ambulance in sight. Do we blame them?! This world is out of control.
Let's do it! How can I help?

Things have gotten ridiculous. Drug dealers openly sell drugs at the “sexy boutique” upstairs on 18th at and 8th ave. It’s closed now because of the Coronavirus, but when it opens again, the dealers will be back. The whole block is full of addicts and homeless and the police won’t do anything about it.

While I was walking south along 7th Avenue a few blocks from Penn Station, one man pull his pants down and relieved himself in public in front of other people around. It happened at the corner of 7th Ave & 27th Street in Manhattan. I did not want to look at what was going on. I wanted to cross the street ASAP to get away from it. Long story short, this homeless/public urination problem has gone too far. At what point do City Hall, City Council, and Mayor DeBlasio put their foots down (open their eyes) and get serious doing their jobs? Only time will tell.

The situation is out of hand. Everyday NYPD / EMS are picking up over dosed/ intoxicated people off the street. It is scary to go out at night, people are shooting up drugs openly on the street. Its time to vote people out of office if they can't fix this.
