It has never made sense how one stop outside the Dublin border causes such a drastic increase in train fares. It was the astronomical train fares into work that caused me to get a car and drive to work. Even taking all the costs of maintaining a motor vehicle + petrol, etc still works out cheaper than getting the train into work and that is honestly bizarre. The fares need to be reduced to make it more affordable for commuters of Drogheda/Laytown/Gormanston to choose public transport over private cars.

It’s a joke... my and my boyfriend paid 22 euro for 2 singles to Howth Junction from Laytown! The next day we paid 20 for a family ticket return from Balbriggan

Disgraceful fairs from Gormanston to Connolly, yet go from balbriggan to Connolly is much cheaper. Time to act and extend the commuter belt beyond balbriggan

It is more expensive to go Laytown to Balbriggan (2 stops) than Balbriggan to Bray. Unacceptable.

These towns are slowly becoming the affordable suburbs of Dublin. Commuting is a huge problem. Train/bus should be a cheaper alternative to driving. Using leap cards up to Drogheda should be basic along with cheaper fares and better infrastructure.

Transport to Drogheda is far higher than to Balbriggan which is 3 stops away.
If we truly want to take action on climate and get people out of their cars, we need reasonably priced and reliable tranport options.

Another way Drogheda area is being forgotten by the government
