I want the Chatham B.O.E to be open and transparent with the upcoming $25 million dollar bond referendum!

Thank you Board of Ed for all of your research and time. It would be helpful to see how you arrived at the $25 million referendum; I would not vote for this referendum because I don't have enough information.

Thanks to the Board for all your work. I urge you though to please provide transparency surrounding this matter. Please explain how this decision was arrived at. Could the same be accomplished with a more modest proposal? Why not rennovate the current CMS auditorium, leave the BOE offices where they are and just build the 2 new proposed classrooms at another CMS location?

Chatham is a terrific place to live, with great schools and conscientious taxpayers who care about how their money is spent; and the school board has a fiduciary responsibility to present any and all proposals for tax increases with full transparecy and detailing of costs; and we should be voting on each proposed expense separately so we can make choices on where our money is spent - not all lumped together in one Big Fat $25 Million Referendum pill that we are expected to swallow!

I would do and spend whatever money is necessary for the education of my kids. However, you don’t spend $10 on a new art center and later figure out a program to utilize it. I like to see a master plan, where do we want to be in 20 years? What is it that we want to do tomorrow that we can’t do today with what we have? Talking about renting it out to outside organizations (regional choirs); would the art center satisfy their needs? Bus the kids from Lafayette to the art center; can we afford losing an hour of school program to bus the students around? There is no plan, just a price to pay but no cost. Elaborated and Presented the way it is, I find this project irresponsible and a potential future burden for our community. Criticizing the sound during the performances, is criticizing the students, just like the bad notes we hear here and there. Our equipment’s work, they are set and operated by the students. The $2-$3 M needed to renovate our auditoriums are the monies we have never spent to maintain our tools, it is maybe time to do it!
