This petition is to encourage Charlottetown
Mayor Clifford Lee and his councilors to commit to legislate a Ban on plastic
bottles and plastic shopping bags by the end of 2016. Every year 500
billion to 1 trillion plastic bags and plastic bottles end up in our landfills
or oceans. This is equivalent to 60 million barrels of oil by dumped into our
environment.
Let's follow the example that progressive
cities such as San Francisco and Mexico City are setting by banning plastic
bottles and plastic bags.
Please
sign this petition to let our leaders know that we are all champions of change
and we want to preserve and protect our environment.

Once upon a time we did without both. At minimum we can ban plastic shopping bags and go back to paper with the reusable fabric bag option. In fact charge us for each paper bag as well to encourage reusable fabric bags.
