Graduating at another school in Charles County is just complete and udder disregard for the seniors and their families as a sibling of a student in the graduating class and a LPHS Almuni I feel just as cheated as the current seniors do. This needs to be resolved

As a teacher of LPHS, I agree with the student population to NOT have the students graduate at their 'Rival school' and a school that's NOT where they received their education from...IMO

Students should NOT be graduating from another high school other than their own! If given the option, they should be allowed to have a say in what decision is made for THEIR graduation. How is a day like high school graduation memorable when walking around a rival school even close to a celebration of their accomplishements?!

Not looking forward to standing in line two hours before the ceremony to get a seat based on first come first serve status. Show Place arena had plenty of seats and bathroom facilities. There was no bad seat there or extremely early arrival. It was a pleasant experience.

I am the parent of a graduating senior at NPHS. I also agree that each school should hold graduation at their respective schools or a neutral sight. If a decision like this was to be made then the board should have been more diligent in informing all Charles County students and parents of this idea so everyone could be heard.

I get it. I honestly do but in my opinion it doesn't matter where you graduate as long as you graduate. I graduated from North Point in 2010 and i was against the idea of graduating in the gym also because i wanted as many people as possible to see it, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter. You walk across the stage and your done and then you sit in a chair for close to 2 hrs. The North Point gym was made big enough so that graduations could be held there to save the school system money. It is cool that you feel so strongly about something and actually did something about it but the issue is something that your not going to win. The county plans on having graduations here for years to come and if i graduated in a class of 500+ im sure your class of 385 will fit fine. All in all good luck (yes i am bored)

Having high school seniors graduate at a different high school is unfair. Calling it the "Convocation Center" does not change the fact that you are expecting LPHS Warriors to graduate at North Point HS! We have our own facilities that can be used. The football field, gymnasium, and auditrium are available for the ceremony. We just have to think of the best way to utilize our facilities. One idea: have the ceremony at night so that the parking lots at Matula ES, Starkey, and the Gwynn Center are available. Has graduation been at night in the past...no, but that doesn't mean it can't be. I am sure there are other ideas that can work so that the Class of 2015 (and beyond) can add graduation to the list of their great memories of LPHS!
