Changing the uniform policy with regards to the colour of the girls skirt

Having just started at this school in September, it has been a challenge finding suppliers who stock the royal blue skirts, and grey is more sourcable.

I agree with everyone’s comments. The royal blue ones are just hard to find; the quality ones from Mapac are hard for my daughter to get on and are now being discontinued anyway; the pinafore dresses are ridiculously expensive, compared to boys’ shorts or trousers from the high street; the eBay/Amazon ones fall apart at the seams and snag on things all the time; the royal blue of the jumpers fades and so doesn’t match the royal blue of the skirts after a while; and there are plenty of options for different shaped bodies (which even children have!) in grey or black from supermarkets everywhere. They can still look just as smart if specifications are given (like with shirts in the Juniors), and it would be much more practical and less financially restrictive (I buy numerous pairs of trousers to ensure we have enough for the mud / food / pens / crayons that cover them, but the cost stops me doing that with the skirts/dresses).

I don’t have girls at the school but I feel it’s unfair for the parents to only be able to buy these from 2 possible retailers. Also my friends girls’ often complain they find the skirts uncomfortable so a better level of choice for both affordability and comfort seems more sensible, whilst all still looking smart.

It would be good if I could shop around as my little one is very slender so nothing fits well and most things need to be adjusted so if I could find the best fit with little adjustment that would be great.

Years of paying a fortune on marks and Spencer's website at £22 a skirt as the amazon ones are so badly made!!

It seems fair to keep the uniform the same for girls and boys.

Grey skirts should be allowed? They’re equally as smart as the blue and far more readily available.

The Mapac skirts are now discontinued and the alternatives on the market are awful quality.

Parent in Willow class. Parents should have access to quality uniforms available on the high street/supermarkets. Its a mission to get hold of a nice royal royal blue skirt.. and will be even harder with mapac discontinuing the nice quality royal blue range.

I have children in Vole and Dormouse classes and echo the comments of others in the challenge of finding good quality and good value royal blue skirts. Given that girls (and boys) are allowed to wear grey trousers or shorts, I don’t understand why the same can’t apply to skirts and pinafores.

I have daughters in Rabbit and Hawthorn classes. Having bought, at great expense, skirts from the recommended supplier, I found these didn't fit my daughter well and was forced to buy the Amazon skirts. They are poor quality and I am constantly having to repair them, which as a full time working parent I don't have time for. I'd happily buy the blue skirts if they were readily available from a supplier such as M&S but it would appear the colour is not common enough to make it viable for such suppliers to sell them. Consequently I support the suggested change in uniform policy to allow grey skirts which will be easier and cheaper for parents to purchase.

The Royal blue skirts are a lovely colour so it is a shame that local stores such as M&S do not stock them. The quality of the skirts available on line is not ideal. It would be sensible to have the option of grey skirts which would look smart with the white tops and royal blue cardigans. This would be in keeping with the boys' uniform.

It’s much easier to find grey skirts. Royal blue is not supplied by the schools main uniform providers M&S or Mac pac only on amazon.
