The exam timetable for 2nd Year Biomedical Science students needs to be changed.
There are 8 exams in a 17 day period, 5 of those are on consecutive days in one week.
We are complaining and would like an alteration to the timetable.
This course is difficult as it is; all 8 exams are 2 hours long and are worth up to 75% of each module. We are paying up to £9000 per year for this degree and as academics, are all working hard and would like to do well but, regardless of our efforts, honestlybelieve that this timetable will negatively impact all of us.
We appreciate that there are issues with scheduling and fitting numbers of students in an area safely; and understand that the exams are not far away, but something can and should be done about this.
We would like no more than 3 daysof exams in one week, and if not possible,will settle for sets of2 consecutive days of exams.

I just spent the last hour reading through the comments and honestly it makes me so angry to see how stressed everyone is right now. Still haven't heard a single word back from the department but I am currently drafting a letter that actually explains why five exams in one week is basically setting us up to fail.

I honestly did not think this would gain this much steam so quickly but here we are and it is wild to see everyone coming together like this. It is honestly such a relief to know I am not the only one completely losing sleep over this schedule because five exams in one week is just not okay when you think about the actual workload we have.

I'm not biomed, I am happy with my timetable, but it is unfair to my fellow biomed friends that they have to suffer through 5 exams in a row.
A week of back to back exams is utterly illogical. How are we supposed to perform to our highest standard under that amount of stress and pressure. If it's detrimental to our grades would that not also reflect poorly on the department?
I feel that the course in this year was not planned well, from individual module practicals to the whole biomedical course structure. I understand that we should manage our time, but in this day and age students are juggling jobs/societies/work experience as well as university. Just to top it off they placed 5 exams on consecutive days :/. Personally, don't like their planned proposal of scheduling exams over the weekend, at least we can use those for studying and relaxing!
I'm a BioPsych student, but definitely still agree with how unnecessary and avoidable the timetable for biomed students are. Shows a lot of inconsideration on the faculty's part.
Not only is our course is hard, but the timetable is given to us a month before exams start and bearing in mind we have more exams than most departments the fact that most of us have 5 exams in 5 consecutive days is not in any way beneficial for the students or the results the department may achieve as a whole.
This will only reflect badly on the department and the university. Lower pass rates is the worst case scenario, but the most likely at this rate.
As a first year this timetable doesn't affect me, but if it did I would not be satisfied with having so many exams on consecutive days

We understand that it is difficult to organize the exams in a way that is fair to all, but 7 exams in 10 days offers no respite for us, meaing that we would really suffer towards the end of this exam period. It seems a shame that, after all our hard work during the year, our final grades will be decided on how well we can perform under sheer exhaustion
