The school had its issues when I attended there. There was a lesson inparticular where literally nothing was taught. Every lesson the class was subjected to the same Simpsons video (yes, video) over and over again.Obviously didn't complain at the time but in hindsight it's pretty bad. I'll sign anthing to secure that it improves before my daughters and son attend there.

i understand that if a child has done something wrong eg beating up another student, bullying or behaving in a out of control way in school they should be isolated from the other students but not for forgetting stationary and homework, thats abit extreme to say the least this policy needs to be looked at again!!!!

My children work hard and are very high achieves yet have been in seclusion for wearing grey socks. I know for a fact the majority of the teaching staff are in disagreement with many of the draconian, petty measures brought in by the senior leadership team who seem more concerned with making the school a brand and furthering their own careers than actually nurturing and developing young people to be the best they can. We see through you, Mr Ryder in particular, and we don't like it.

Also the work they do in seclusion isn't relevant to what they are learning, it's just to keep them occupied, it's never marked and is often binned in front of the child once they've finished it. That's not educating a child, it's neither relevant to their punishment or to their school work.

I have long disagreed with the seclusion policy, and it just seems to have got more draconian as time goes on. At least give the children meaningful work that is relevant and is marked instead of binned. And try to have other policies in place to support wayward children and help change behaviours rather than just seclusion.

I am all for a strict routine and discipline but not for petty reasons such as a pair of vans that have a tiny vans logo you can't even see and getting secluded for, also not having stationary is harsh, I think some of the students have a valid point or reason should be considered and not secluded some days they simply forget there equipment my son was secluded for not having his diary but we simply could not find it at all I was told but another one or he will be secluded and it turned up the following week in school, I think seclusion. Should be for behavioural issues and continually breaking the rules they should be given the menu first thing and what they select should be brought to them should such punishment have to be in place.

I am stunned! I cannot believe that this is the school I worked at for 25 years! I - and many others -
tried to make it a child-centred environment. WTF is going on?!?

In total agreement with all these comments, my son has told me many stories about seclusion and I actually didn't believe him because what he said sounded so ridiculous!!
