sometimes one recieves this punishment for forgetting one's journal, or having the wrong shoes E.C.T, and this should not even be punishable

think this kind of punishment is archeic and mean , just an oppotunity for the teachers to bully children

It's mind boggling. My boy is an over achiever in all of his lessons, he works hard and his teachers love him. The Head chucked him in seclusion for drawing a Mickey Mouse on the back of him journal (that I paid for!) He's not allowed a hot meal, fresh air and they keep him in til 3:30pm whereas the rest of the school leave at 3:00. He didn't do any work in there, only drawing! So he missed out on a full day of lessons for drawing on his journal and made him sit in a room on his own and draw. He then had to walk home on his own and I was forced to pay another £4 for a new journal or else they would keep him seclusion until I brought the money in. I was furious!

Children are in education to be educated, not to waste their time as punishment. When a school looses track of this and is only managing time it is time the school has a reevaluation of their policies.

it's about time something changed! My child is in the first year and has already spent 4 days in seclusion, all over his journal! it's an utter waste of his time, the first 3 times in their he spent drawing... I was fuming with the school for making the punishment to miss out on valuable learning. I emailed the Head and soon made sure that students would do work appropriate to the work in the lessons.

Why put a child in exclusion and not educate them at the same time?

Why they do this is just unbelievable. If a child has a day off then we as parents are in trouble. This is why this ssystem to myself is backwards

needs more than just a change to the seclusion policy...
there is appropriate and inappropriate punishment and all of it impacts on the child. A child understands when they are not being cared for by not been allowed to have a hot meal when they are in seclusion. This could build resentment in a child because they are being punished on several levels. What we are looking for is some leadership to demonstrate to the children that they are cared for at the same time that the guidelines are there for their benefitave to

It's not the food that breaks you... Or the screws... It's the waterboarding and the twenty four hour Justin Bieber loop that gets you in the end
