It is absolutely heartbreaking that these beautiful cougars were destroyed! We are guardians of the planet & it is our job to protect these majestic animals! These animals should have been relocated! Shame on you for destroying them!

Terrible, its not our call to kill Gods creatures. He put them here for us. Not to be abused.
Shame on them. How can this killer sleep at night.

I am originally from Vancouver Island & know these beautiful big cats would just retreat and avoid, rather then confront humans. To destroy any wildlife is inexcusable , there are just too many other options. We need to STOP taking the cheap easy way out. We don't have that right, its because of us that there are problems , so since we cause them, then I guess we need to fix them. The first step is to protect our wildlife at all cost. To kill that mother and her three cubs is just wrong and someone should be made to answer for that decision and action!!

It's tragic. Senseless. Upsetting. I agree with all the other comments to date. It saddens me deeply that another solution wasn't found.

perhaps we forget that these animals were here long before we were....putting these beautiful animals down is despicable ..relocating these animals would have been a better decision....must we kill them because it is convenient to do so...

I am originally from Germany. A main reason for my life is the canadian nature and the wildlife. In Germany and many other European countries wild animals such as bears, wolves and cougar were exterminated many years ago. And why ? Because they are supposed to threaten people. But if one observes these animals more precisely, they prefer to avoid the people. We humans consider us to be intelligent, but are we really? We destroy nature and exploit it for our purse. We are cutting the trees that give us oxygen. We are building factories that take away us even more oxygen. We kill the animals to have more space for our new homes and garages. We build oil pipes through nature to make more money. We do want to destroy the nature and animal world, because three cars, a big house, a boat, a Harley, a mobile home, a snowmobile and a quad finally need space.

I definitely agree the animals should not have been put down until at least anther solution was looked at... I hail from the Central West Coast of BC, we see these majestic animals all the time in the winter... To hear that a female with 3 babies were put down, just pisses me off...

I am utterly disgusted at the cavalier attitude that the Ministry/Conservation system has towards our wildlife. I'd like to know what the Ministry's definition of "conservation" actually is. Come on people, we must at least make an effort in tagging & relocation. Wanton destruction of wildlife from poaching isn't tolerated...I don't see what the Ministry is doing as any different. I'm ashamed of our Province in this regard.

I agree that some thought and procedures must be implemented to prevent the destruction of our wildlife.
Killing wildlife should be the last resort.

This is unacceptable to kill these animals. They should be rehabitated and dropped off elsewhere.

I agree that alternative solutions to euthanasia must be considered wherever possible. In signing this petition, I am hopeful that experts and the community can come together to find better ways to manage the needs of all beings.

This Cougar killing, and Black Bears has to stop. The CO's in this province are too hasty in putting animals down.
The Provincial Government need to restore funding and add more CO's so they can actually do what the name suggest, Conservation.
There has to be more effort in relocating .
In other Provinces and States there is great effort made to save animals and relocate.
If it works there, we better start doing this too.
I am disgusted with all these killings.
As far as I am concerned the CO's are just trying to convince us that relocating doesn't work.
At least these animals have a chance.

This was totally avoidable and I am quite disgusted that these magestic animals were put down like this. More education is needed. These animals must be protected.

The natural prey of these animals is being threatened so instead of looking at the REAL problem of human encroachment, we simply eliminate the so-called "offensive" animals as if they're the problem. Further, this species is also threatened and by destroying new cubs along with their mothers, we will be the ones to send this species to extinction with all the others. What we need is to educate HUMANS and stop punishing animals who are simply trying to exist.

This happened in Singapore too, animals were culled without any second thoughts. The authorities could have rack their brains more to relocate and not kill.
