I agree with Paul. It wouldn’t be so bad if we were actually allowed to fish during the short window we’re given. I fished one day in the last 3 years due to bad weather. If changes aren’t made at least extend the season.

Season needs to change. Minimum of one solid week to find decent weather. Start season 2 weeks earlier too to escape bad weather season.

The snapper are everywhere. A large percentage of them are in the 20 to 30 pound class. I am no scientist but I am sure they are hurting the population of other species.

I agree with Paul. It is absurd that we are only allowed to fish for red snapper 4 days a year, with the last couple years not being able to fish at all due to weather. This needs to be restructured for sure.

Agree. One big problem is that the fish do not survive. Even using descending devices, the fish stand no chance and are easy prey for sharks. You cannot reach the bottom in most areas out at 100 ft., without hooking one. It is a shame to waste our natural resources in this manner.

I agree with the issued allowance per year idea. Just because we have a limited season doesn't mean they are not caught year round. Bringing a fish up from deep only to send them back down, does not guarantee their survival.

We have started spending our money in Mexico Beach and the Florida panhandle for snapper season. I will not spend any money in South Carolina to snapper fish. I’m tired of the weather washing out the sorry excuse for a season we have.

We need to be issued tags for ars 8-10 per angler per year.

I fully support that South Carolina waters be managed as one cell rather than lumping us in with Florida. Our red snapper fishery is booming with healthy red snapper in all age classes from 70ft out past the ledge.

The fisheries should be managed by local agencies much like the gulf. Ridiculous to blanket all reef fish on the south eastern seaboard with one council. Its a very different fishery with very different pressures having a two mile run from the inlet in Florida and 30 plus mile run from the inlet in the Carolinas.
