We are finding it difficult to concentrate and don't work as hard at the moment. It is affecting our results and I think this is a brilliant idea

This whole new lunch time is causing a lot of problems for those who are diabetic. Some students are having to have their lunch earlier then others to boost up their sugar levels, meaning losing out on their lessons times, their education. There was nothing wrong with how the system worked before. Don't get me wrong, the whole thing about only having 1 lesson after lunch is amazing but the school really didn't take into consideration about the effects it would have on those who have medical conditions.

What's the point having a lunch break so close to school finishing. Lunch time is mid day not mid afternoon.

Its too late for lunch usaly i have it at around 12 at home and i dont mind waitting half an hour but an hour and a half is too much to wait for like i do like the fact that you only have one lesson after lunch but the morning drags on and lunch really is the only time where you can have a proper break

This has been a positive change for alot of children, my son included. He concentrates better now the majority of his lessons are before lunch and he himself is happy with the change and prefers it. Re the points for signing: 1) Parents should ensure their children eat breakfast before leaving for school. There is no excuse for anyone's child to be going to school without having had enough to eat for breakfast. 2) 45 minutes should be plenty of time for lunch and there is actually a further 10 minutes after the time given before last lesson starts at 14.20 pm. Additionally, it has been confirmed that no child is expected to go to their final lesson of they have not finished eating. They are allowed to finish their lunch in full and teachers are notified if children are delayed because of this. This has been said to me by head of yr 8 when I called about it and also head teacher said that's the case too. So amount of time available is not an issue. 3) Why would children be too hungry to concentrate if they are given breakfast and have a snack at break time? My son seems to be concentrating alot better with this new timetable. 5) Why are kids less likely to eat lunch? You have said across your points about them being too hungry to concentrate so if you think that then surely they are more likely to eat their lunch? 6) See what I said in point 4. There is no reason for food to be wasted as children are allowed to finish their meals even if the bell has gone. 7) How is the amount of children at break different to last year? Not being able to get through the canteen in time at break, I assume because of queues can be easily fixed by children taking a snack and drink from home to have at break time so that they have enough time to eat it. 8) Parents of children with medical conditions need to liase with the school to make sure the individual needs of their children are met in full. Given there's lots of people happy with the changes and childre

The idea was that children are more responsive to learning before lunch but by making lunch later they are hungry and therefore less responsive!

This is so stupid. All of you get a grip. It is not the schools fault that your children don’t eat enough for breakfast or take things for a snack at break. None of the students at any other schools are moaning. Do you you know why Thomas Adams students are moaning. Because the school is so laid back. Don’t get me wrong the hair rule is ridiculous but other than that. The school can’t do right for doing wrong.
