As an ex student i feel the previous system worked easily even when i was a prefect having to monitor lunch times. The change is unneeded and just makes the morning seem impossibly long. Why fix what wasnt broken?

Just a little while ago the head teacher said in writing
"Dear Karen
There has been a wide consensus from parents supporting this move, in fact you are the only person who is now expressing any displeasure in it. It is a model used widely in other large schools and has been tried and tested. Break has been extended to accommodate the need and as the person who is in the Dining Hall at break, I can assure you all the students who want to eat at break do finish their food at present. We also always allow flexibility at the end of lunchtime, as well as the start. Let us at least try this and see how it goes. The benefits seem to outweigh the inconveniences at present."
Do you think tis is right??????

Calling after 1pm in the afternoon "morning" does not make us learn better, it just makes us hungry!

Far too late for children and adolescents to be eating.

Actual lunch starts at 1:35 as far as I understand, last sitting at 2:00, some kids do not have time to eat. Head-teacher in an email to me said I was the only person voicing discontent....

the bit that really bothers my son is by the time he gets into the Hall and queued up for food the bell goes as he sits down to eat - giving him the decision to scoff and be late for lesson or take a few bites and throw it away so he avoids detention for being late. 45mins is clearly not long enough to get all pupils through the canteen.

Must have a negative impact on concentration. At a time when obesity is a problem, surely this is encouraging bad eating habits

It's also encouraging children to eat alot more and costing a fortune! I looked on my parent pay account and my daughter is having burger at break because she is hungry and can't wait until lunch and then having pizza at lunch. It's encouraging obesity aswell as causing problems for those with medical conditions
