Change the use of ceramic crockery in nurseries to melamine or similar

Plastic is far better for kids a bursary .

Plastic plates are a must

Nursery children start at 2 years old now. It is ridiculous not to use plastic utensils for young children

Whoever thought it was sensible to give young children ceramic plates is an idiot!! Why not just give them glasses and steak knives too while you are at it!

This is an awful story to hear, no child should deliberately be put in the path of danger particularly in what is deemed a safe space for children.

Even grown ups struggle with ceramic plates (I cut my foot on a broken one and it bled for a long time). Plastic plates are perfectly acceptable for children to use and they can still have empowerment and responsibilty of cleaning up after themselves. No need for an item of crockery that breaks so easily.

Children attend Nursery and should be safe at that age they are still developing and can easily trip or fall or lose concentration whilst carrying objects you would not allow glass tumblers in Nursery so why is ceramic plates allowed! This is a very serious injury and will have caused unnecessary tramua to a little boy.

This is shocking and i cant really understand the idea behind replacing plastic plates to ceramic. This is naturally telling you as a mum it is a ticking bomb. How this is happening in such a big scale like nurseries across the Scotland. All those little children are at huge risk, I would like to know how do the stuff perform risk assessment each time children are served food? This makes absolute no sense to me, AND SHOULD BE DEALT WITH IMMEDIATELY

Children must be in as safe an environment as possible. The potential dangers of severe, life-changing injury on broken ceramics completely outweighs any suggested benefits of learning about the dangers at this early stage in life.

What price do you put on a child’s safety ???

Absolutely shocking. Fife council should be ashamed of themelves if they think this is acceptable

Disgraceful

It's a disgrace that the HMI have been advising nurseries to use ceramics for 3&4 yr olds. This is what happens when you introduce children to risks at a young age!
