Change the use of ceramic crockery in nurseries to melamine or similar

Don't understand why the feel using ceramic plates help our children. To young in my opinion to be using these and should be using plastic. This incident has left Thai little boy with permanent disfigurement which is bad enough but what if had hit an artery? Doesn't bear thinking about

I thought ceramic plates were a thing of the past. Especially with health and safety, I think the nursery needs to look at their policy on that subject.

Its not fair for staff to manage small children and breakable items. . but why not bamboo or other sustainable alternative

Ban these dangerous things from our nurseries

Can't believe this can happen to a child in any surrounding even in your own home we have plastic for a them. And a school thinks this is ok.

Primary school kids in East Lothian don’t even get ceramic plates and steel less steel cutlery why toddlers

Nasty injury for such a young child.

Seems absurd that the nursery would use crockery in the first place but even more ridiculous that after an accident with severe injury they will not review this practise for safety reasons!!!

I don’t understand why they have heavy ceramic plates in nursery’s and even in P1 for schools dinners their wee trays are so heavy and hard to carry with ceramic plates and bowls

I agree wholeheartedly! This is an unnecessary risk in nurseries with little ones. Why put them at risk of serious injury? It’s madness!

Thought it was just common sense to use plastic around children that small and with them being partially unattended. Sigh.

Definitely should be using plastic plates and cups and this would never have happened
