I like the current Iron Dog Award but I thought of another award, rather than change the current one. I don't know if anyone else has suggested this or not. I call it the "Fuzzy Muzzle Award". It would be for a dog 12 or older (since Iron Dog is 10 yrs racing plus 1 yr age requirement so Iron Dog age is 11-ish). If dog over age of 12 and races in a given year, he/she qualifies for Fuzzy Muzzzle. Only 1 Fuzzy Muzzle per dog or get an add-on year emblem (i.e., +1, +2, +3, etc.). And, it does not matter if dog started career at even age 11, once they reach age 12 and race, they qualify. This acknowledges an older dog can still participate (health-wise & safely) and at same time recognizes this is something pretty special.

Definitely allow for dogs that need time off for an injury. This also would encourage handlers to take time off if they need to retrain for a better, healthier turn with their dog, etc.

Iron Dog was a GREAT addition to the awards. 10 years consecutive or not deserves a GREAT award!

A dog may need some time off as a result of an injury. This should not stop them from receiving this award.

I believe any dog racing 10 years deserves the Iron Dog award. Dogs that might miss a year due to illness or injury, but still race for 10 years deserve the award!

I too would like the words "consecutive years" removed.....10 years in sport whether consecutive or not is still worthy of acknowledgement

I'd love to see this change. My dog ran 10+ years but due to my husband's illness we didn't race during one NAFA year but did race consecutive calendar years.

I was very disappointed to learn that my first flyball dog couldn't qualify because I took time off to have kids - who now participate in flyball themselves. He's gone now, but for a family sport, as well as for the longevity and health of the dogs, 10 years of racing is an accomplishment, whether they are consecutive or not!
