Any dog racing for 10 years consecutively or not should be recognized

I do not understand why the 10 years needs to be consecutive. The dog is still awesome if he/she managed to play for 10 years.

Jassy my shihtzu has been racing for 4 years, and was off for a year and she is now not eligible to receive this award when she does hit 10 years. I would have loved to have her iron dog award in 6 years.

I have received an email from NAFA regarding the Iron Dog Award.
They will be reviewing this at the next meeting!
Please continue to share the petition as it has stalled at 126.

Anyone that knows my Macey, knows she IS an Iron Dog. She missed a year due to back to back ruptured ACL's (one occurred during a Flyball demo, even with three legs she didn't want to stop). For over 10 years she has been playing Flyball because she LOVES it. There was no way for her get her Onyx, but an award for endurance, persistence, and sheer love of the sport...that should be the Iron Dog.

I agree with the suggestion to change the rule to any 10 years, not consecutive. This recognizes the longevity without unintentionally encouraging people to run their dogs when they need a break for whatever reason, just to qualify under "consecutive".

One of my dogs got the Iron Dog which I didn't hang up as of yet I signed for them to change it but I love flyball and do it for fun so don't matter if my dogs get it or not. But for some of the people and there dogs means a lot and if they do flyball for a total of Ten years even if off for a while I think it would be nice for them to get the award. Some dogs retire because of whatever reason and then come back for a year or two why not get the award if they have been in flyball for a total of 10 years. Just my thought.

I forgot to say, I'm not good with creative award names so fuzzy muzzle may not be the best name if others have another/better name, that's cool!

I like the current Iron Dog Award but I thought of another award, rather than change the current one. I don't know if anyone else has suggested this or not. I call it the "Fuzzy Muzzle Award". It would be for a dog 12 or older (since Iron Dog is 10 yrs racing plus 1 yr age requirement so Iron Dog age is 11-ish). If dog over age of 12 and races in a given year, he/she qualifies for Fuzzy Muzzzle. Only 1 Fuzzy Muzzle per dog or get an add-on year emblem (i.e., +1, +2, +3, etc.). And, it does not matter if dog started career at even age 11, once they reach age 12 and race, they qualify. This acknowledges an older dog can still participate (health-wise & safely) and at same time recognizes this is something pretty special.
